Road Season 2009

Our final event of the 2009 Winter Road Racing Season the Barry Skinner Club Championship and Graded Scratch Races was at the picturesque Gumeracha course. Martin's Hill played it's part in giving us an all round rider as club champion for 2009, splitting the bunch early and placing the good climbers in the break. Kristen Lewis certainly put his coaching skills into practice, keeping well hydrated on the unseasonally hot day, and gapping his fellow breakaways in the final leg of the race. It was all or nothing for Kristen and lucky for him it was the win. The State Road Champion Mike Stallard together with Chris Stack put in a final effort but were unable to close the gap. Congratulations on a great season guys.

2009 State Road Championship Results
Well how did Norwood's riders fair in this year's State Championships? We're pleased to report that the club put up a strong showing in some windy conditions on the Williamstown circuit. "Alpe" de Williamson played it's part in spliting up the bunches and making riders really work hard for a win. Mike Stallard managed to out sprint Tristan Jones of SHMCC for the Elite win and Andrew Roe out stayed his fellow competitors for a win in the Under 23 Championships. In the womens Elite Amber Halliday hung on to the wheel of Carly Light to take Silver by only 2 seconds. For the complete list of the 22 medal winers please see details below.

Megafert Burra 100 Classic 8th & 9th August
Well the weather gods smiled upon us again this year for the 103rd running of the Megafert Burra 100 Classic, at the historic town of Burra in South Australia's Mid North. The clear skies and manageable winds many have contributed to Will Dickerson's magic win, but he certainly showed his class with a run away win. Alex Edmondson also proved hard to beat in the Torrens Engineering Junior Event

15th Annual ALPHUTTE RESTAURANT CLASSIC HANDICAP The Range Willunga 20 June 2009.
A cold and windy day met a large field of riders for this NCC Classic event. But the rain did hold off and we saw some first time winners on the podium. Congratulations to Tom Herries on his first Road Race win and also to new Norwood CC junior member James Turnbull (A grade) , and Rudy-May Mundy (C grade) a great effort guys.

Norwood CC riders take Gold Silver and Bronze in the Junior Women Under 17 500m Time Trial Final. The girls continued their great work through out the championships as did Chun Yuen in the Under 13 division. Dave Gomer and James Kelly then chimed in with medals in the Masters Championships to make 2009 a great meet for Norwood CC riders.
