Summer Criterium Season
Tuesday
the 3rd November's Graded Criteriums saw the direction
of racing on the Victoria Park Circuit return to a clockwise
direction. This overcame the problem of racing into the sun
on the corners at the Wakefield Rd end of the course and gave
a straight line for the sprint finishes. We are working to
overcome any issues with this new circuit, but one thing is
for sure the riders have given this course the thumbs up,
with bigger fields each week.

Tuesday
the 27th October's Graded Criteriums saw the direction
of racing on the Victoria Park Circuit reversed from previous
weeks. This produced a new set of challanges for riders with
the long straight now being into the wind and the finished
line being reached after negotiated two sweeping bends. Unfortunately
the second of these put an end to Graham Rootes' chances in
the A grade race with Graham taking a fall.

The
Graded Criteriums scheduled for Tuesday the 20th Oct went
off without a hitch this time with weather ideal for racing.
Victoria Park is certainly proving a hit with riders and spectators
alike. Because of the openess of Victoria Park it is possible
to see the whole circuit from the startline while you enjoy
a coffee from the coffee van. Great stuff.

Victoria Park Criterium 27th Sept 2009
Sunday 27th Sept was a cold morning with a brisk south
westerly wind and the odd little shower, but the racing on
the new Victoria Park Criterium Circiut was certainly hot.
The Norwood Club officials and the CSA commissaires team had
some work to do, establishing the new race procedures required
for this new circuit. Just as a new Regency Park presented
its challenges all those years ago, so will Victoria Park,
but planning and experience will solve any issues, and wasn't
it great not to have to dodge around B doubles, parked cars
and those 90 degree kerbed corners. We do thank all involved
for their efforts in preparing and marshalling the track,
registering riders and making sure that racing was safe and
enjoyable for all involved
